Terms of Service
The ground rules for using Red Flag Weekly — written in plain English.
Last updated: October 4, 2026
What Red Flag Weekly is
- ▸Red Flag Weekly is a free educational service: a weekly scam-alert newsletter, an interactive scam-spotting challenge, a link scanner, and emergency checklists.
- ▸Our goal is to help you recognize and avoid scams. We provide information and education — not legal, financial, or professional advice.
The link scanner — important
- ▸Our scanner uses automated checks and known-threat databases to flag suspicious links. It is a helpful second opinion, not a guarantee.
- ▸A “looks safe” result does not mean a link is 100% safe, and a “suspicious” result does not prove a link is malicious. Scammers change tactics daily.
- ▸Always use your own judgment. When in doubt, don't click — contact the company directly through its official website or app.
No guarantees
- ▸We work hard to keep our information accurate and current, but we can't promise the site or newsletter will always be error-free, uninterrupted, or catch every scam.
- ▸Red Flag Weekly is provided “as is.” We are not liable for losses that result from actions you take based on our content. If you've lost money to a scam, contact your bank and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and ic3.gov immediately.
Your responsibilities
- ▸Use the site lawfully and don't try to break, overload, or misuse it (including the scanner).
- ▸Don't submit links or content that is illegal, or use our tools to harass others.
- ▸If you subscribe, provide a real email address that belongs to you.
Intellectual property
- ▸The Red Flag Weekly name, logo, guides, and site content belong to us. You're welcome to share links to our pages and forward our newsletter to friends and family — in fact, please do.
- ▸Please don't copy our guides or content and republish them as your own.
Third-party links
- ▸Our emergency guides link to official resources like IdentityTheft.gov, the FTC, and the credit bureaus. We're not responsible for the content or policies of those external sites.
Changes to these terms
- ▸We may update these terms from time to time. The date below shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

The short version: we educate, you stay in control. The scanner is a tool, not a guarantee — when in doubt, don't click.
